The MYSUN consortium has recently completed its first training of trainers (ToT) workshop on sustainable campus for academic and technical staff of Malaysian universities!

The workshop, titled “Supporting Campus Sustainability at Institutional Level” was organised online, due to Covid-19 related restrictions in Malaysia about travel and gatherings. The 18h workshop was divided into two parts:

  • Part 1: “Networking” – from March 30th to April 1st, 2021
  • Part 2: “Institutional Elements to a Sustainable Campus” – from April 27th to 29th, 2021

The objectives of the workshop were to understand the importance of engaging with stakeholders, to understand the design and functioning of networks, to examine the possibilities of cooperation at national and international levels and to identify structures, policies and tools that support campus sustainability.

Over 40 people participated in each of the two parts of ToT1, and although the online training format was not ideal, the participants found them to be highly interesting and on-point. The workshop included seminary style presentations from staff of the EU partner universities on topics such as networking and creation/management of networks, engaging with stakeholders, as well as animated discussion and group work sessions. Malaysian partner universities also shared their experience in managing sustainability in their institutions.
