Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is a public university based primarily in Shah Alam, Malaysia that accepts only Bumiputera .Established in 1956 as RIDA (Rural & Industrial Development Authority) Training Centre (Malay: Dewan Latihan RIDA), it opened to some 50 students with a focus to help the rural Malays. Since that time it has grown into the largest higher education institution in Malaysia by physical infrastructure, staff organisation (academic and non-academic), and student enrolment. The university comprises one main campus and 34 state campuses. With 17,488 academic and non-academic staff, UiTM offers over 500 programmes ranging from foundation to postgraduate level. It is home to some 170,514 bumiputera and international students, in full-time and part-time modes. Teaching is fully conducted in English.

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through the initiative of Sustainability Science Research Cluster (SUSci) set a target of 2019 to be the year of focus on preparing the campus toward achieving the eco-campus status and a more promising sustainable future. As a result of the participation of the UiTM in UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2018, UiTM Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UiTM SDSN), a new unit established in 2018 under the supervision of SuSci taken up the active role to give support to lead the effort to identify the current state of UiTM sustainability initiatives with close collaboration and positive response of relevant responsibility centers (RCs) in UiTM. Thus, realizing the importance of sustainable campus which requires holistic and transdisciplinary approach as well as a network of campus community with surrounding community, the year 2019 become a new starting point with preparation of UiTM Eco-Campus Blueprint (UiTM-ECB). The UiTM-ECB consists of six (6) cluster, namely setting and insfrasture cluster, energy and climate change cluster, waste cluster, water cluster, transportation cluster and education and research cluster.
