University of Alicante

The University of Alicante (UA) was founded in 1979. Being one of the youngest universities in Spain, the UA is also considered one of the most innovative and fastest developing in the whole country. More than 30000 national & 3000 international students are enrolled in 7 Faculties offering over 50 degrees in all fields of study. The UA manages more than 2000 academic & 1200 administrative staff.

UA has a strong experience in international cooperation through EU-funded capacity building in higher education programmes, and through its International Project Management Office (OGPI) has contributed to the training of university management staff to aid the integration of countries in transition and develop their international status and networks.

The UA campus in San Vicente del Raspeig has become a reference both nationally and internationally for its urban development model, and for the continuous efforts of the entire university community to have a sustainable campus with efforts towards energy efficiency, use of renewable energies, reduced consumption, waste management and recycling, or a sustainable mobility plan, among others. UA’s sustainability efforts are coordinated by the Vice-Rectorate of Campus and Technology, through the Service for Infrastructures and Services, and the Ecocampus Environmental Management Office.
